Dr Gabriel is a four times great granddaughter of Jenny Harriott, niece of Patron Mariann Harriott and first cousin to Patron Albert Harriott. She holds a BA Honours degree in Journalism Studies from London Metropolitan University and a PhD in Media, Culture and Communication from the University of Salford. As a former academic, she founded Black British Academics in 2013, as a global community and collective platform to advance equity and social justice in higher education. Now semi-retired, she currently serves as a Visiting Researcher at London Metropolitan University. In addition to establishing Jenny Harriott Foundation, she manages the website and undertakes historical research to illuminate the lives of her ancestors.
