The column to the far left shows ‘Deborah’ at the top (although she is the youngest of five children) and each ancestor to the right represents a generation. Exploring the history of Jenny Harriott is a key aspect of the Foundation’s Mission. Dr Deborah Gabriel will be undertaking a major research project as a Visiting Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford University (2024-25) on the history of Jenny Harriott and others enslaved on plantations in the Parishes of Saint Elizabeth and Manchester, Jamaica between 1789 and 1834.
